Farewell K9 Kazan

The Entire K9 Family at N. Charleston Police Department was saddened by the news that K9 Kazan had to be put to sleep on April 1, 2006 due to deteriorating health. Retired Sergeant K9 Kazan enjoyed retirement since February 2003 when he retired from service with his lifetime handler/partner Lt. William Johnson.

K9 Kazan started his Service with the NCPD K9 Team in 1996 and he retired February  2003.  Kazan had an active career assisting with the arrest of 118 dangerous criminals and locating 3.8 Million Dollars in illegal cash, drugs and property seizures. Kazan loved keeping the citizens of N. Charleston safe and working with his partner, Sgt Johnson.  K9 Kazan and Sgt. Johnson were favorites at public demonstrations and educated thousands of children (young and old) about police dogs, police work and illegal drugs.

At the time of K9 Sgt. Kazan's retirement, Lt. Johnson was K9 Team Supervisor at the rank of sergeant.  Since then, Lt. Johnson accepted a new assignment supervising the Training Division for N. Charleston Police Department and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Lt. Johnson still lends a hand with NCPD's K9 unit today.

Farewell Old Friend, we're going to miss you
