Farewell K9 Joeri

On June 27, 2005 the NCPD K9 Team sadly gathered with Cpl. Blair as K9 Joeri accepted his last tour of duty in heaven after doctors found a large inoperable tumor. Chaplain Dewey with Costal Crisis Chaplaincy prayed with the team as doctors gave K9 Joeri a peaceful passing to be with God in Heaven.

K9 Joeri started his Service with the NCPD K9 Team in December of 1997 and he retired August 12, 2004.  Joeri had an active career assisting with the arrest of countless dangerous criminals, locating countless quantities of illegal drugs, protecting Cpl. Blair and keeping the citizens of N. Charleston safe.  Joeri was affectionately called "Squirt" by the members of the K9 Team.   He was the quintessential Police Dog who enjoyed the loving attention from citizens at demos and schools, but quickly went into action when duty called to protect and serve. Even when Cpl. Blair was deployed for Military duty, Joeri faithfully waited for his master to come home to resume patrol on the streets.

Even after his retirement, Joeri still made visits to the office (much to the delight of everyone) to say hello.  We have lost much more than a police dog; we've lost a fellow officer who wore his badge proudly. Everyone on the NCPD K9 Team, N. Charleston Police Department and the City of N. Charleston will miss him dearly and our thoughts and prayers go to Cpl. Blair, Joeri's partner and best friend his entire career. Yet behind the tearful eyes we all know Joeri is with God guarding the gates of heaven.

Farewell Old Friend, we're going to miss you
